Insomnia and Depression
"In August of ’08 I entered a very stressful time resulting in 7 months of insomnia, a high level of anxiety, leading to depression. I had become distraught enough that I sought prescriptions for and began taking meds for both the insomnia and depression in early Jan '09.
was referred to Jade Spring Wellness and Mia by a very close friend of mine. I began receiving acupuncture and taking Chinese herbs in early March and within 30 days I began reducing the sleep meds and anti-depressants. I have since stopped taking the sleeping pills, sleeping 7-8 hours/night, and I have cut my anti-depressant in half. The degree to which my well being has returned is remarkable.
My energy is strong and calm, my outlook optimistic, and my future is again, full of possibility, joy and enthusiasm.
A side note, but noteworthy; I have begun training for a marathon (my 4th) and with the support of acupuncture treatments and herbs my body is thriving during the strain of a training regimen which is intense and requires a great deal of endurance.

"When my third son was born, I had one mastitis after another as I try to breastfeed the baby. After several rounds of antibiotics, I had some allergic reactions and the infections kept coming. The doctor said I needed to stop breastfeeding right away and switch to bottle-feeding, but the baby was allergic to cow’s milk as well as soy milk! I was desperate to find a solution and I really wanted to keep breastfeeding my son. This is when I walked for the first time into Mia’s office. I had no appointment but she was right there, so I asked her whether I could ask her a quick question. She gracefully accepted and I explained briefly my situation and asked her whether she thought she could do something to help me. The confidence with which she answered struck me. “Yes, we will have the situation under control within a day or two.” I started acupuncture and herbs, and sure enough, the red streaks on the breast, the pain and the fever all went away within and I was able to breastfeed my baby for 17 more months! The infections came back now and then, but each time, we treated them with the herbs and some acupuncture sessions. There were no side effects, and my energy improved. I was so impressed, that a few months later, when my first born started having some serious heartburns and the western medicine treatments failed to solve the problem, I asked Mia whether she could also do something about it. After a month of treatment, my son was cured. Then my middle son also had a problem: he had never had a dry night in his life, and he was 6 years old! We had tried to wake him up at night to go to the bathroom, and we used a device that would ring to wake him up, but nothing worked. He started treatment with Mia and again, a month later, the problem was solved for good! The most recent problem was possibly the most impressive of all: my third son developed some strange symptoms that looked very much like Tourette syndrome. He had very strange eye movements and over time the ticks moved to the shoulders, then to the trunk in the stomach area. The ticks were relentless and he had no control over them. These symptoms bothered him considerably, especially at school, where he was trying to hide them out of embarrassment. I felt very helpless, the doctor said we had to wait a year to confirm Tourette, but I wanted to get my son some help before that. I thought that Mia might be able to do something about the situation and sure enough, we started treatment. Now, a few months later, my son is more or less symptom free. The ticks are under control and we have started spacing the treatments out.
As you can see, in the past 10 years, my whole family has seen Mia for various health problems (I have other stories to tell!) that were not easy to solve with western medicine. Mia was always very skillful and extremely helpful. Not only is her knowledge of Chinese medicine impressive, she also is a truly compassionate person who cares deeply about her patients. She always returns phone calls quickly and we are always treated in a very respectful and kind manner. Mia is also very good with children, and believe me, it is not easy to convince your children to go get acupuncture. However, she made all my boys very comfortable. Knee Pain
"Mia Song has repeatedly performed miracles with her acupuncture and herbal treatments when I have gone to her in pain and have been temporarily disabled. Ten years ago, I decided to try acupuncture (as a last resort) after a knee specialist had told me I would have to live with a significantly swollen and painful knee until I had surgery. After ONE TREATMENT with Mia, the swelling was gone and my knee felt marvelous! I couldn't believe the immediate results! Since then, she has again repaired my knee, after two falls, cured the pain under my clavicle (which a specialist had diagnosed as arthritis and unfixable) and has repaired debilitating stiff necks, hip problems, shoulder pains, lack of energy, "hammer toe," and a painful thumb.
