"I first visited Jade Spring Wellness in March 2009. I was pregnant and at the beginning of my second trimester. I was suffering from terrible headaches and sleeplessness and a friend suggested I try acupuncture. It worked like a charm. My headaches were gone within 2 to 3 treatments and my sleeplessness greatly improved. Around that time I also began weekly prenatal massages with Jewell Smith. I was extremely impressed with how well Jewell knew the aches, pains, and tension areas associated with the pregnant body. She knew what areas of my back, legs, and hips needed attention each week, even better than I did. She tailored each massage based on what week I was in my pregnancy. For example, in the last few weeks she focused all her attention on my hips and lower back to prepare them for the birth. I continued with the weekly prenatal massages up to the week my daughter was born. I also went to Jewell for prenatal acupuncture beginning around week 34. My daughter was breech when I started the acupuncture and I truly believe it was the acupuncture that prompted her to turn.
I continued the weekly acupuncture throughout the rest of the pregnancy, and I absolutely believe the combination of the massages and acupuncture calmed me and prepared my baby and my body for the birth. I had the most perfect all natural water birth. My midwife agrees the months of massage and acupuncture prepared my body for an extremely smooth and short labor and delivery. I will forever be so grateful to Jewell! She is an incredible masseuse and acupuncturist and is so caring and nurturing. She went out of her way to fit me into her schedule, and she became a friend along the way.
